WEE Program Launch event

The Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Program launch event, held on March 15, 2024, in New Delhi, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders committed to driving gender intentionality across sectors and enabling empowerment. The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers and panelists, including representatives from the US Department of State, FICCI, The World Bank, and various private sector organizations.

The program began with an inaugural address by guest of honor Kathleen Fox, Foreign Service Officer from the US Department of State, and Poornima Shenoy from FICCI. This was followed by insightful discussions on women in the platform economy, exploring both barriers and enablers.

Two panel discussions formed the core of the event. The first, “Capacity to Capitalize Platforms,” moderated by Aparna Krishnan from JPAL, featured speakers from organizations such as Amazon, Aspire for Her, and Saath Livelihood Services. The second panel, “Women in Gig & Job Tech: Looking through a Gender Lens,” was moderated by Akanksha Sharma from The Convergence Foundation and included panelists from Frontier Markets, Her Key, and Doc Online, among others.

This impactful launch event set the stage for future collaborations and initiatives aimed at empowering women economically across various sectors and platforms.
